About Therapy

ABOUT MY PRACTICE:

I offer individual therapy for adults. My practice is general and I enjoy working with a wide range of issues and people. However, I have particular experience working with:

  • Working through relational and developmental trauma

  • Managing life transitions and identity shifts

  • Healing from the aftermath of growing up in a challenging family system

  • Creating a stronger sense of self and a deeper engagement in your own life

  • Issues around gender, sexuality and identity

  • Exploring and addressing the impact of intersecting cultures and the outer world (including aspects of society and sometimes unjust systems of power) on self, development and experience of inner and outer life

  • Letting go of stale patterns in favor of beginning to live more creatively and authentically

MY APPROACH:

I have been described as warm, interactive and down-to-earth in my therapeutic style. While I am eclectic in day to day practice, I am grounded in relational psychodynamic theory, meaning in part that I pay attention to the healing power of the therapeutic relationship itself. It also means I pay close attention to your thoughts, feelings and processes to possibly read 'between the lines' and discover along with you possible unconscious patterns which may be impacting your life more than you realize.

I don't believe in 'one size fits all' and tailor my approach to each individual. As a result, therapy can be a bit different with each person I work with. I see therapy in many ways as a creative, collaborative process. I love my work and hold the deepest respect for the people who work with me as well as for the process itself.
